The situation in Wayanad, Kerala, is dire. Torrential rains and landslides have claimed nearly 400+ lives, with many more still missing. Homes have been destroyed, neighborhoods submerged, and countless lives disrupted, with many losing their homes and livelihoods. Despite rescue efforts led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, continuous rain has made it challenging to find more survivors. Over 5,500 people have been rescued, and nearly 8,300 moved to relief camps.
GiveCharity and Helping Hands For Hospitals is partnering with Tribal Mission local organization to provide immediate relief. Your generous contribution to the Wayanad flood donation campaign will help us establish relief centers at three critical locations near the disaster sites. A key location includes a relief camp in Nilambur, where tribal members are involved in recovery efforts.
These centers will provide essential support to police personnel, volunteer workers, and affected tribal communities. We aim to supply essential food kits, hygiene supplies, and mobile health camps to sustain families, prevent disease outbreaks, and offer immediate medical care.
Two-Phase Relief Operation:
Phase 1: Relocating vulnerable populations from riverbanks and landslide-prone areas to safer buildings such as government hostels, schools, and hospitals.
Phase 2: Recovering buried bodies and establishing connections in stranded areas through temporary bridges.
Support for Relief Camps: Government agencies, with significant support from businesses, are providing food, clothing, essential utensils, and personal items to those in camps. However, private groups lack direct access, and medical aid is limited due to the disaster's severity.
We now seek the support of compassionate individuals to contribute to this contingency fund. Your donations will be vital in providing both immediate and long-term support to those affected. Your generosity will make a significant difference during this challenging time.
